God and Women

(Genesis 3:16) “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to they husband, and he shall rule over thee.”
NOTE: This verse was used by the Church to oppose the use of anesthesia during childbirth.

(Genesis 19:1-8) Lot offers his virgin daughters to the towns people of Sodom to be raped in place of the male angles.

(Exodus 21:10) Marrying your slave and making her your wife and then marrying another wife is approved as long as your don't skimp on your first wife's food.

(Exodus 22:18) “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" (This verse has been the cause of a horrible death of thousands of women.)

(Leviticus 12:1-2,5) “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days.
" . . . But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks . . .”

(Leviticus 15:19-23) “If a woman menstruates, she shall be unclean. Anything he touches, sits, or lies in shall be unclean. Anyone who touches her, or anything she touched, shall be unclean.”

(Leviticus 19:20-22) “And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.”
(All he has to do is make a sacrifice at the alter.)

(Leviticus 21:9) “And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.”

(Numbers 5:13-31) “ If a husband suspects his wife guilty of adultery, she is to be given holly water mixed with the dust from the temple. If she gets sick, she is guilty of adultery.”

(Numbers 31:15-18) “God orders that all the Midianite were to be killed except for the virgins who would become their property.”

(Numbers 31:17-18) “ Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
“But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.”

(Deuteronomy 21:10-14) “God authorizes marring captured women as their wives. If the man doesn't like her, he can discard her.”

(Elizabeth Cady Stanton) “The Bible and the Church have been the greatest stumbling blocks in the way of woman's emancipation.”
The Bible establishes woman's inferior status, her “uncleanliness," her transgressions, and God-ordained master/servant relationship to man. The Bible was written by men from a patriarchal society. Times have changed since them but the church hasn't.

(Deuteronomy 22:13,20-21
) “If any man take a wife, and go into her, and hate her . . . and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shall thou put evil away from among you.”
NOTE: If the man lied, all he get is a fine. At lease some God-fearing Muslims still follow God's laws.

(Deuteronomy 22:23-26) “If a man rapes a woman in town who is engaged to be married he will be stoned. If no one hears her scream, she also must be executed. However, if she is raped in the country, she is given the benefit of the doubt.”

(Deuteronomy 22:28-29) “If a man rapes a woman who is not engaged, he has to buy her from her father and can never divorce her.”

(Deuteronomy 24:1)" When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favor in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.”
(This would drive a lot of lawyers out of business.)

(Deuteronomy 25:11-12) “When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:
“Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.”
(She should not have gotten involved in a man's fight anyway.)

(Deuteronomy 22:28-29) “If a man rapes a woman who is not engaged, he has to buy her from her father and can never divorce her.”

(Judges 11:30-40) “After her father won a battle, he sacrificed his daughter by fire.”

(Judges 19:22-29) “A man sacrificed his concubine to a rapist crowd to save his own skin.”

(Judges 21:21) This is a long story, but it boils down to when the Benjamites, who were conquered by their fellow tribesmen and with only a few left found that all their wives and children were massacred. So they were allowed to hide in a vineyard and kidnap any virgins who came by.

(Isaiah 3:16-17) “Moreover, the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
"Therefore the LORD will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.”

(II Samuel 12:11-12) “Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbor, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.”
For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.”
