Does God Punish Innocent Children?

(Genesis 17:14) “And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.”

(Deuteronomy 32:2) “A bastard . . . and his offspring to the tenth generation . . . are to be punished for his illegitimacy and cannot enter a congregation of the Lord.”
(When I was a kid, skipping church would not have been a punishment. “Son. I have some- thing to tell you. Your great-great-great-great- great-great-great-great grandfrather was a bastard. So that makes you a bastard nine time removed.)

(Ezekiel 20:5-26 & Exodus 34:7) “ . . . for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and forth generation of them that hate me.”

(Proverbs 22:15) Children are to be disciplined with the rod. If beaten with a rod, they will not die. (Many Christian parents have inadvertently beaten a child to death following this precept.)

(Proverbs 22:15) “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”

(2 Kings 2:23-24) “From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. ‘Go on up, you baldhead!’ they said. ‘Go on up, you baldhead!’ He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. ”
